I’m excited and frustrated all at the same time!
The excitement comes from the fact that I’ve almost got everything in place to begin marketing my current products. It’s even more exciting to know that I only have to set up my affiliate program and shopping cart ONCE!
It’s taken the past 2 weeks to get it all working and to test it all to make sure it’s right.
DLGuard was the easiest, and surprisingly I was able to install it myself this time… twice (I installed it in the wrong place the first time). But I was really proud of myself since the first 2 times I had to have Sam install it for me. It was much simpler than I had imagined.
JRox JAM is the affiliate program I’m using. That one was a bit tougher to understand but they do have responsive support for the most part (ok, yes, Sam spoils you). It’s got a few more bell and whistle settings than I thought I’d have to deal with but I managed to muddle thru once Paypal was set up right.
Paypal has actually been my biggest frustration because they seem to know less than I do. Two of the three times I called them to find out why something wasn’t working right (the 3rd time all they had to do was verify that I am who I say I am), they were sending me off on a wild goose chase.
Thankfully, for my own sanity, what they were telling me was far out enough that it made no sense so I tried a few other things before following their advice.
All in all, it’s taken less time than I expected to get it done. And I kept my sanity by taking breaks to work on product whenever the technical frustration got to be too much.
So if you’re working on getting a shop of some sort set up, just do what my mom used to tell me… plan for the worst and hope for the best. I think that may keep you from going thru an ENTIRE bottle of Tylenol!
And if you’re avoiding product creation because all this set up stuff scares you… don’t. It’s a one time thing for a lifetime of profit. Ask lots of questions, use the support system, and find people who are using the same systems you plan to use… they can be a wealth of information!

Am I on this list? I know I am the other one. I’ll just subscribe anyway. It will tell me. And, if I ever do, and that’s a bigggg IF do need to set up all this Greek stuff you’re talking about I’ll know who to call on.:)

Off the top of my head I’m going to go political and say…. while you may not have to do all of the stuff, there’s always that chance that you’ll need to do at least SOME of it… (how’s that for poli-speak!?) LOL
But yes, I will be here… super-tech girl (yeah, right!) at your service! 🙂

P.S. I am already subscribed, good girl that I am.
I thought you were. But now I know the system is working right over at Aweber. We’re gonna make you a test girl! 🙂

*ACK!* I dread having to find a way to put it all together so that the Affiliate marketing aspect of my business is working, especially since my website and hosting are non-WP so I have a different set of issues to most people.
But at least my How-to site is hack-proof, so I can sleep at night peacefully!
Glad to hear you got your head around all your gizmos and widgets and whosits…

You know I used SBI years ago and I know he’s constantly adding great stuff to it, but I have no clue what he has in the way of affiliate or cart setup. You know you have a ton of great support over there though so no doubt you’ll get thru it!
