Social Media 101 – Learn the Terms

I was talking with my cousin (second cousin) the other night. Her online knowledge consists of sending me the occasional email and reading the ones I send her.

Just to give you an idea of her “online” mindset… she has no mobile phone, she doesn’t have call waiting on her home phone line, and she only recently upgraded to a digital answering machine (and that’s ONLY because the physical tape in her existing machine finally gave out).

And while I have no illusions of her ever being able to Skype with me regularly, it did dawn on me that there are also online business owners who don’t yet have the basics down.

Technology moves faster and faster all the time. I don’t even try to keep up anymore because it just causes me stress. I focus on learning what has to be learned to move my business forward right now.

Having said that, I’ve been slowly but surely getting the hint about the importance of learning how to use Social Media.

I’m restricting myself at the moment to Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and the occasional Facebook issues. But even with just those, there’s a lot of terms that come along with it that to many, sounds like gibberish.

Well I ran accross this article today that I found very useful in regards to teaching me the terminology so I wanted to share it with my readers.

If you’re not up-to-speed on social media yet, don’t feel bad. I’ve been doing it for a while and am still finding terms and topics I knew nothing about.

Hope this helps you out!

    1. Seems like there’s always something new to learn, but I’m finding social media to be a great tool for more than just keeping up with friends and family!

So glad I took the time to figure some of it out!
