As I talked about in my 7 Things to Think About While Becoming a Product Creator post, I’m currently working on getting my first product online so that I can market it. I’ve also started on a possible signature product for an upcoming product creation challenge.
Over the past month, I’ve gone through the painstakingly slow process of setting up my shopping cart and affiliate program. It may not be painful or slow for some, but there was just a lot more technical things to do than in most other projects (but less than I expected so that’s a plus).
This past weekend, I went shopping for the products that would assist and teach me about the 7 things I discussed in the last post.
So, without further ado, here’s the list of items I am now the proud owner of, along with a couple that my honey found and wanted. I believe there are one or two that came as bonuses to another purchase and I also got a couple for free as part of my membership over at Online Business Insiders (OBI) . The freebies alone pay for the price of my membership over there so I always love THOSE!
The plan is to review them as I use them and put my Shiny New Object Syndrome product to good use!
I’m thinking that means I’ll be doing several at once since it may take working on several items at the same time so they work together. I’ll divide them into processes though in case you might be looking for something in particular.
So if you’re taking part in Tiff’s product creation challenge, you may want to at least check that out and see if it’s something that could assist you along the way. I know it’s keeping me focused and I’m already learning.
So here’s what I got…
Product Creation
Product Creation Lab Workshop (Kevin Riley) – I learned about Kevin recently over on the OBI Forum I belong to. He had offered a free recording to members of a NAMS training he did. I ended up taking so many notes on this alone that I just knew I had to take his workshop to see if it’s as good as the training.
Clockwork Recipe For Publishing & Selling A Profitable How-To Guide In Just 3 Days (Kevin Riley) – This is another Kevin Riley product. He has several of these Clockwork Recipe books that offer information about various topics. Since I love the short how-to guides, I thought this might be a good one to add to my arsenal but I haven’t gotten into it yet.
30-Minute Product Creation (Rob Howard) – I found this over at the Warrior Forum. I’m still learning about Rob as well but I can tell you that he’s the first one who has ever turned down my request to be an Affiliate. To me, that means he cares about who his products are associated with. I sent him a note to ask what I can do to eventually be able to promote it. He replied to thank me and let me know he didn’t completely understand how I was planning to promote. I’ve sent a note back and am waiting to hear from him on that.
Redneck Product Creation (Sam England) – This is another one over at the Warrior Forum. I’ve purchased Sam’s products before, and while I’ve always learned SOMETHING new from them, he’s one of those guys that I’m not 100% on yet or who really gets my heart beating fast when I dig into his products. Ihaven’t put my finger on yet, but I always trust my intuition so I’m withholding opinion on the product till I gets started with it.
List Building
1-Minute List Builder WordPress Plugin (George Katsoudas) – I want to learn more about list building, but any time I can replace training with a plugin that does it for me, it’s worth my time to take a look at (well, at least from vendors I trust).
Elite Email Marketing Academy (Bertus Engelbrecht) – I’ve never heard of Bertus but my other half found this one and from what I’ve found so far, he appears to have ethics. I’ll have to dig further as I get to this.
No BS List Building (SaSEOPete) – This one appears to be no fluff which I always like. Haven’t opened it yet. I strictly went off the sales page.
Rapid Subscribers & Sales V4.0 – (David Kirby aka InvestASAP) – This is another one my sweetheart found and the only thing I can say so far is that it’s going to the bottom of my list of where to start. Not because I know anything about the product, but because of the way it’s listed. Without tons of detail, it took me way to long to associate the product I thought I bought, with the emails I got from the creator. The product might be the best thing since sliced bread, but my initial reaction was that if the sales delivery process is confusing, there’s a good chance the product may be too. So, I can already say I learned something from it!!
The Ultimate List Building Arsenal (Ryan Molina) – I absolutely didn’t like the sales page for this because I didn’t care for the “Army Green” theme, but that’s just cosmetic. What I did like was the bonuses offered. I want to check them out because they’re the kind of things I’d like to include in my own products. That means that even if they’re as “icky” to me as the sales page, I’m still going to learn what not to do and that’s always a plus too. For me, that alone will make the $10 bucks worth it.
Premium List Building Magnet Plugin (Welly Mulia) – I have the Lite version that came as part of my PT Profits purchase. From what I understand, the premium version is for multiple sites. But since I’m testing it out on this one, I’ll start here and see how well I like it.
Marketing
The Tube Method (Jason Fladlien via Zane Miller) – This is another one that I’m REALLY excited about. I think it was the highest priced one of the weekend, but after watching their video about what we can do with G+ Hangouts, I would have paid twice as much. I’m hoping it’s as good as their marketing says!
Google Hangouts Made Easy (Tina & Trish) – This one came as a part of The Tube Method but they offer it on its own as well.
Viral Ad System (Kevin Riley) – I figured that as much as I’m enjoying Kevin’s information, I can’t beat testing this out when I’m ready to market, especially since it’s free!
PT Instant Plugin (Welly Mulia) – As I said earlier, when I find a quality plugin that can do things for me a whole lot faster than I can figure out on my own… I’m there to listen. Welly is one of those marketers who encourage you to check out his reputation and what his company does. In fact, he includes links in all his emails to do just that (although I still go look elsewhere too). This plugin is about sales pages, opt ins and Facebook stuff so I’m hoping it’s as strong as it states.
I also have his Premium Content Lock that I’m going to play with. It lets you lock up PIECES of your content or ALL of it really simple-like… on pages, posts, or both. Not sure exactly where I’m going to use it yet, but I have lots of ideas that came flooding in while I was watching the demo video. The personal license is $47 (Developer’s for $67), but check out the note below…. something I found out about while researching…
Membership Sites
WP Member Champ Plugin (Jason Fladlien) – As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I’ve found valid reasons to learn about setting up membership sites, even if they’re free memberships.
Jason has a product called Members Lab too. It’s a 4-hour training that I might have picked instead if I was using anything other than WordPress and Aweber to build my sites. The Aweber is optional with this plugin, but if you don’t use WordPress, this Plugin will NOT be something you can use.
Keywords
Keyword Retriever Plugin (Simon Warner) – My guess is that you’re already past this point in your business but I tend to be a keyword tool addict. I own almost every one that’s out there except Keyword Canine. But they only open their doors every so often because they get such a great response.
So… there it is. My weekend spent online spending money like we have it right? LOL
The bottom line is I have just over a month left to either put this stuff to use and generate some income, or start looking for another trucking job. Knowing what that did to my health and the difference it’s made being home… you can bet your ass I’m going to be putting in the time it takes to figure this stuff out!
Subscribe to my list so you won’t miss out on any of my subscriber-only specials! And be sure to include your links in the comments below. I use CommentLuv to link to your blog so you can build automatic backlinks that Google will love!
I own Tiffany’s Shiny New Object Syndrome. HostGator got rid of all my plug-ins. Or at least deactivated them.
I just joined the OBI on your link because I know or know of most of the people there. It should help me move along a bit faster.
I will have to change my theme at least one more time. I wonder if ya’ll are as tired of that as I am. This new Twenty-Twelve child theme is buggy as hell and HostGator hates it. I’m watching and learning and hoping people don’t get too aggravated with me.
Great post, by the way.

LOL. LOTS of stuff going on! Since you own it, you know that I just bought myself a ton of work. 🙂
HostGator probably disabled your plugins when they were trying to fix your site last week. Usually if it breaks, chances are you have a plugin somewhere that’s not placing nice with the theme or another plugin. The bad news is that it’s not always the last one you installed so you usually have to deactivate them and then reactivate one at a time.
Themes can be really tricky sometimes. And you certainly can’t keep buggy ones no matter HOW many times you have to change them!

You said, it. “…a ton of work!”

Wow, Debi, you are gonna be one busy lady. The good news is that you will have lots of product reviews that you can write from an actual user’s perspective instead of the usual ones where people are just reading the sale copy.
It will be interesting to hear which tools are worthy of your time and investment. Good luck 🙂

Yes I will. So far I have one that’s working well but has been put on the back burner for the current product just because for that one I DON’T have to set it up as a membership, and one that’s giving me an error so I’m waiting on a response from their support team that’s not in till Monday. I may get thru them faster than I think! 🙂

Hi Debi,
It’s Alex from Tiffany’s gang. It seems to me your shop-a-holic weekend went well. LOL
I know some of these items you listed, and I think Kevin Riley’s Product Creation Lab Worksop is good. I got it still in the ‘ancient times’.
My hands are full of work. I spent last week with theme changing two times, system reinstallation three times and similar tidbits. And that’s not the end of the game – although some of my hair still remained. Consequently, I only produced three posts this week.
Debi, I don’t know whether you celebrate or not, but I’d like to wish you Happy Mother’s Day! 🙂
Take care,
Alex

Hey there Alex… thanks for stopping by!
Kevin’s stuff so far has been more helpful and much better laid out and easy to understand than most. I got the Product Creation Labs thru a special offer he has for OBI members ($37 vs. $395). After listening to his NAMS presentation, I jst had to get it!
Why is it that themes always seems to cause so much trouble. Even the ones I buy from highly recommended vendors either break or are so complicated to learn that I simply give up… drives me nuts! And for what? You know down the road your business is going to grow and you’ll eventually have someone design a theme especially for you! LOL
As for posting, there’s NOTHING wrong with 3 per week! Many people only do that in a single month so keep rockin!
Stop by any time. And thank you for the Mother’s Day wishes… yes, I am a single mom of one (although sometimes with my sweetheart it feels like 2). 😉 I also am an honorary mom (Mama Jonesie) of several of my son’s friends!

Nothing against your judgement, but I dislike Kevin Riley and won’t buy his products. The first product I bought from him was an Adsense product, way back in the day when Adsense was popular.
I didn’t think he spent enough time on the product, even though it was mostly video, it didn’t teach me anything I didn’t know and it didn’t put a single dollar in my pocket.
Since that first introduction to him, I don’t care for his products and won’t touch them with a 10 foot pole.
You’ve got quite a selection of products here. I tend not to dole out too much cash unless I know the reputation of the marketer. Jason Fladlien, is an okay guy in my book.
I’ve bought several of his packages and they were well worth the money (WP TWIN) comes to mind right off the bat. I did buy his ghostwriting course way back when but never did anything with it.
I have a video creation product from him as well and it mostly talked about scripting and how to put the sales video together. Since I don’t create “text based video letters” I didn’t really do much with the product.
I tend to stick with the marketers I know, like and trust. I recently attended one of Armand Morin’s List building Web Camps and it was the best money I spent!
That prompted me to buy his Optin Bundle package, as he displayed it at the Web Camp and I was impressed with how they worked.
He has a Webinar Web Camp coming up soon. I might have to buy that, too. 🙂
I should get back into the habit of reviewing products. I haven’t done much of that since Blogging with John Chow.

I’m still not 100% on Kevin but I got access to his NAMS presentation as a part of my OBI Membership. I’d not heard of him (or Jason) till a few weeks ago but for the price, they were worth checking out to me. I went looking for marketers who specifically were covering pieces of the puzzle to see what they offer. Of course I’d never heard of Tiffany initially either… but here we are 3 or 4 years later! 🙂
I liked Kevin’s NAMS presentation but haven’t gone into detail on the other stuff yet so I’ll withhold my opinion past the first one until I get there.
I met Armand years ago at a couple conferences I attended with my offline business. He’s a good guy.
debij recently posted..7 Things to Think About While Becoming a Product Creator
Hey Bonnie. I went looking for that Adsense product and started doing more research on Kevin…. Mostly because I didn’t want to waste a lot of time reviewing his products ahead of some others I bought if I found something I didn’t like.
Looks like he started back in 1996 or after as far as online stuff. And there’s not one product in his product catalogue that has to do with AdSense. Makes me wonder if that one was one of his early-on projects.
Definitely lets us know even more during this product creation challenge that first impressions make a huge difference so you want to make sure you get it right!! At the same time, I don’t want to scare our timid product creators away early on in the process.
From what I’ve experienced (so far) with his products, he seems to have improved immensely from your experience to mine. So, even if our first products suck to some people, you can always change, improve, and gain a new audience as you go too.
Heck, he’s even on Nicole Dean’s Expert Briefs this week and I liked his thoughts there too.
We’ll see what’s behind the curtain as I go… LOL

I’m a big girl and can admit when I’m wrong. This is the case for this post!
Okay, after receiving your reply, I went searching on my computer for the Adsense videos I was referring to in my earlier post.
As much as I hate to admit it, I got the name wrong! It was NOT Kevin Riley that sold me the videos – my mistake.
I do apologize… I won’t even mention who the perp was for fear of retaliation from the gentleman. LOL
In any event Debi, I am so sorry I wasted your time because I know you spent a portion of it looking for his videos.
Again, I would like to apologize and state it wasn’t Kevin Riley’s product I was displeased with. The product was sold to me by another “big named” marketer.
Bonnie Gean recently posted..90 Day Product Creation Challenge, Day 4
LOL. Well thanks for straightening that out anyway. I’m good with the time spent because it let me know to go ahead and use/review Kevin’s products that I bought.
I’ll apologize to Kevin here too! 🙂
All good Miss Bonnie…. you slanderous woman you!! LOL
