Well, it’s a 3-day weekend, even for those who drive over-the-road. The question is, what are we going to do with it?
I, for one, had plans of relaxing, getting some of the boxes from our recent move unpacked so we have some semblance of “home”, finishing my very first article pack for My Favorite PLR site, and getting my daily game plan in writing so I know exactly what to do each day even if it gets hectic.
And now, there’s been a wrench thrown into the planning. In order to get home, our loads were going to have to be dropped at the Long Beach ports, and another load picked up and taken back to Phoenix. But it seems as though some yay-hoo decided to throw a cigarette out the car window (making assumptions here…we have no official cause yet) on Interstate 15 in California so we’ve been sitting on the freeway on-ramp since about 1pm or so (it’s now 5:45pm). I have no idea how long we’re going to be here. The northbound side of the freeway’s been open for about an hour…southbound is still closed.
So, while I sit, I’m updating blogs and making posts, browsing (and buying) PLR since most of my favorite PLR writers are having holiday sales that NO ONE who uses PLR or requires content should miss by the way, & wondering what’s going to happen to my 3-day weekend (hey, they just don’t happen that often in trucking world). 🙂
Seven hours later…
Freeway’s open..stop and go of course. And the “boss” has decided that since we already lost a day, what’s another one going to hurt.? So he’s making us stay on these loads and drop them in port tomorrow (since ports are closed now and don’t open again till 8am).
So much for the whole 3-day weekend thing. I know in the big scheme of things it’s no big deal. It’s just that I had actually gotten excited about the possibilities.
Don’t worry. We’ll survive. We’ll still have 2 days off. It’s just bummed me out today a bit so I’ve got to make a mental shift.
