My blogs haven’t been updated for the past few weeks and it’s really slowing down my progress…but there’s a good reason for it.
I got a new job!
Now, don’t take my enthusiasm for a new job the wrong way. It’s not because I love what I do or even WANT a job. In fact, for those of you who know me well or have been following me, you know that my primary goal is to NOT have a job. I know, it sounds confusing. Let me explain.
With the previous company I was driving for, I barely saw home. And when I did get to the house, it was enough time to shower, eat, sleep a few hours, and head back out. Even the so-called weekends that they had talked about in the beginning were becoming non-existent due to the issues at the ports.
So, my honey and I decided it was time to quit and move on to something that better fits our lifestyle and our goals. We applied (and got hired) to a milk transport company. What that means for me in simple terms is that I’ll be working nights (which I prefer). I start between 8 and 10pm and (eventually, as I get faster on my tasks), will be finishing between 8 and 10am…sometimes sooner, but trucking is typically a 12-14 hour plus job or more.
I’ll have 2 solid days off every week…the SAME 2 so I can actually plan what has to be done ahead of time without constantly changing it up at the last minute.
More importantly, I will be home….EVERY day!!
The downside? There’s a ton of new stuff that I’m learning at this job, training days, tests to take, certifications to obtain, and a slight adjustment to my schedule (I’m used to being in bed between 4-6am…now I’m not home until sometime between 9am and noon).
Needless to say, I’m tired, I’m overwhelmed…and I’m behind on my business tasks. 🙂
Regardless, this is a plus. Once my body and mind have adjusted to the new schedule and all that the new job entails, I’ll be able to get back into a schedule…and I’ll have more time to work on growing my business!! I look forward to seeing how much more I can do this year than I got done last year!
Until then…
