My friends and family call it being stubborn. The personal development people call it persistence. I don’t care what it’s called… it gets the job done for me every time!
I’ve spent the past week and a half working on getting my website updated, my shopping cart in place and my affiliate program set up. And during the “down” time I’m still aiming for 3 posts a week for a blog challenge (this is #2 for the week), creating a new product and completing my niche research packs.
Top that off with the men in my house coming and going and the maintenance guys revving up their chainsaws at 6am (that’s when I’ve been headed TO bed) and yes, I’m one tired puppy. But I’ll take that over having to spend any more time at the doctor’s because I have to go back to that stupid job!
This morning (it’s now 8:45am and I’m finishing this before I head off to bed), my man tells me that I need to stop working all night… it’s not good for me. He’s probably right… scratch that… I KNOW he’s right. But that’s only because I’ve been spending most of my daytime hours working too.
I’ve gotta pick one or the other, not both.
But without having the stubbornness I have, I would have given up last week! I mean hey, do I REALLY have to have an affiliate program set up right NOW? Well in my mind I do. It’s something that I can do now or do later, so why not just get it done while I’m figuring out all the shopping cart stuff? Otherwise when I get back to it later I’ll have forgotten all the cart stuff and have to start again.
Besides, I have lots of great reasons to work as hard as I am right now. And no, my honey doesn’t always understand all my reasons, but I will give him credit for always making the attempt of appearing to understand and be interested. LOL
When I want to get something done, whether it’s because I’m excited about it or I’m financially motivated or both… or because someone tells me I can’t (yep, I’ll admit it), I get on a track to do it no matter what it takes.
And this week it’s the technical crap that’s kicking my butt again. But that’s not going to stop me. I’ve never let technical stuff win yet and I’m certainly not gonna start now… not when it means so much. And like my mom always told me over and over… “Can’t never did a thing!”
So I work at. I search for information anywhere I can find it and I test out things that I think might work until I find something that does. And I’m learning to check with people I know online who are, or have been, going thru the same thing as they build their own businesses to that next level too.
And I’m finding out how valuable the relationships are that I’m building.
A great example is Victoria over at MyDailyCuppa. She’d mentioned what she’s doing with her site and that she’d added a “Home” tab. I’d played with that on my own site off and on for the past week without success. So at this point, it wasn’t priority on my list but it was comforting to know that when I eventually took time to do it, that it could be done (and that I wasn’t the only one that was having a bit of trouble with it).
Well, Victoria saw the comment I left about figuring mine out later and was kind enough to drop me a note explaining what she’d done to make it happen. About 30 minutes later (did I mention I’d been up all night?), I had a “Home” tab on my website… well, at least on this one… but now I know how to do my other one much faster!
Thanks Victoria… you’re a gem!
So does stubborness pay off? I can honestly say that there are times when it might not look that way to outsiders looking in, but I’ll take having a stubborn personality over not having a stubborn one 9 times out of 10!!
Your turn: Are you stubborn? Persistent? Tenacious? Has it gotten you INTO trouble or OUT more often than not? Go ahead. Spill the beans! LOL

You go girl!
I used to be stubborn, persistent, whatever we call it these days, but sometimes other things {cough} takes your marbles out and scatters them all over the dang floor. I *intend* to pick them up and put them back in place. Unfortunately, I end up sitting in the floor playing with them. 😉
Okay, it’s not THAT bad, but dang near. LOL

ROFL! You know the trick is that when they’re on the floor, you don’t let anyone come into the house, especially the ones who like to kick them around for fun! LOL

lol…you are an inspiration to me, Debi. If I get discouraged (I rarely get discourage, I get mad (stubborn?) and, like you, begin to look for answers. And it’s always the tech stuff that gets me. Hang in there, we (your loyal subscribers) await your brilliance!

Thanks Ruth. And yes, it’s like the technical stuff never ends!

Oh see we need to team up. The tech stuff doesn’t get me. I know the answer is available. The head stuff though ugh. Even then

As long as we win right? There are just days when the technical stuff just seems to pile up and slow me down all over the place. Then I get mad and even more stubborn! LOL
