Instant Expert Review & Vlog Challege Day 14 Check-In

The vlog I did for this week’s check-in was done on Google Hangouts. I bought Jason Fladlien’s Tube Method a few weeks back on my Shiny Object weekend and I’ve learned SO much about what video, and especially Hangouts can do for my traffic and business that I’m devoting some serious testing time in using it!

I haven’t gotten thru even half the information in the product yet but I’m already seeing an increase in traffic. I know some of that (maybe most of it) is from the blogging challenge we did, but I haven’t posted as often recently and the traffic is still increasing.

And more important to me was in just this single hangout, I had a comment, +1 AND a share… all before I’d even finished editing the thing on YouTube to be able to put it out here!

The product that I’ve been working on for the Product Creation Challenge is something that  I think is important for me to do. The problem is that I’ve been working on that product, and I keep getting stuck. I started thinking about whether it was something that I really wanna do… and it is.

For people like me who are visual learners, get distracted easily and want to stay as productive and focused as possible, I know it’s a good product. And the reason I know that is because it includes the exact things that I started doing for my own business and blog to get ME focused and on track.

But I get bored really easy and for this challenge, I want to make sure that I’m doing something that will get me thru the technical stuff, the creation, the writing, and everything else that it’s going to take to put it all together… without getting bored and giving it up or changing my direction!

Instant Expert

Since I was so excited about The Tube Method, I just HAD to go out and see what other products Jason had to offer. I picked up several of them, but I started with his Instant Expert Product because I wanted to know if it could help me get unstuck with the product I was working on. My thought was that I was getting in my own way because I didn’t feel like I necessarily knew ENOUGH. After all, how can I be an “expert” on something that I just started doing myself?

By the time I was done, I was so impressed by it but I wanted to do a quick review of it here on my blog. But then I got thinking and five “Why not do the review using Hangouts and kind of do the whole kill two birds with one stone thing?”

Here’s the thing about the product. I spent $30 and when I got it and unzipped it, there were exactly 3 files… One video, one audio, and a Word document. My first thought was that there MUST be something missing. I started with the word document because I wasn’t in a place where I could watch the video and they’re are all of 12 steps.

Only 12 stepsThat’s it. 12 steps. Simple, actionable… and just 12. How often does THAT happen!? It doesn’t…

I just KNEW at that point that I had wasted my money. The thing is, Jason did such an awesome job on his Tube Method product that I just couldn’t believe that this product could be that awful. LOL

So, I went ahead and listened to/watch the video file. There was additional information that Jason covered in that file, along with a couple of examples on how to put the 12 steps to use. It got my attention.

It was one of those things that just seemed like it was going to be TOO easy, or that it might work, but not as well as he said it would.

I went back to the word document, grabbed a pen and paper, and started doing each step. It took me less than 10 minutes to complete. When I was done, I had a list of four products things that I want to become an expert in (which will lead to 4 products), and a simple plan to become an expert in the one that most interests me!

Of course becoming that expert, along with documenting my results, will give me a great product!

My recommendation (since I went thru the product) is that, if you’re already a product creator but want to significantly reduce the amount of time that it takes you to get it all done, this is worth taking a look at. If you have tons of product ideas already running circles in your head or written down on paper and your stuck in the decision-making process, you definitely want to check this out.

So that’s what I’ve covered here. For those of you who prefer not to hear about all the personal stuff that’s going on, that starts at 5:14 so feel free to turn it off there.

For those of you who DO do the personal thing like I do, we had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We did ribs and hot dogs on the grill. I learned how to make Mexican corn on the cob (and it was delicious). And, we picked up a really sweet watermelon that just didn’t last that long!

What was most fun for me is that my son had his friends (my “kids”) over too. It’s been a while since I’ve had them around, so I really enjoyed it. I hope you get all had a great weekend too.

Your Turn: Have you used Google Hangouts? Do you use them for fun? For relationship building? Do you use them with a specific purpose in mind? Or have you been like i was and just haven’t seen a use for them?

  1. I am glad that you found a product that delivered, even after the initial shock of it being so small. lol.

The Google Hangout – I know nothing about it. Did you just record your video as you would on a laptop? Was it a live stream? Did you invite people to watch?

I look forward to hearing more about the product that you have now decided to work on. Good luck with it.

PS – that corn on the cob – that just sounded wrong! all that cream and mayo and chilli – wowser. A bit of butter and salt will do me.

At first I thought you were going to say that the corn was dipped in Tequilla. That really would have been somthing. lol

  2. I REALLY thought I’d been had and maybe it was one of his first products! LOL

The Google Hangout – It’s taking some practice but I see SO much potential with this one. It records just like YouTube… you start a hangout and go. It’s got some fun features but I’ll play with those later this week.

I start it, it records, I press end hangout when I’m done, and it automatically uploads it to my YouTube channel. Then I just go add some SEO stuff as I do with all my videos.

It is a live stream, but I didn’t invite anyone to it since I’m learning (so I didn’t expect anyone to comment). The thing is, if people randomly find it while I’m actually doing it, they can watch (and comment) and interact too.

My product… gonna do some research today and I’ve added that whole ASK thing to my to do list too thanks to you and Bonnie! LOL

Corn – I love LOTS of butter on my corn so I think I’m probably getting LESS fat and calories with it this way, depending on whether I sprinkle the cheese or roll it! 🙂

I use a fairly thin layer because I love the corn flavor but it just gives it so much more (although I’ll never trade in the other way all together… it’s just a different way to eat it on occasion).

I am liking this whole tequila idea though… maybe boiled in that vs. water? Hmmmm…. LOL

  3. The YouTube sounds wonderful but the price tag made my heart skip a beat.

As much as I’d like to learn how to use Google Hangouts, that price tag will prevent me from considering it. LOL

The partner would disown me if I hand out money like that, regardless of how good it is!

I’m so glad you figured out what you wanted to do for the challenge.

Another thing that turns me off about the Google Hangouts is that it posts the video right away to YouTube. I like adding my own spin to the video and that wouldn’t be possible using that method. 🙁

    1. Yes, that’s the most I’ve ever spent on ANY info product so that was my Mom’s Day, Birthday & Christmas present rolled into one. LOL (But I saw that much potential in it.)

I figure I’ll get more into the details (and more importantly, the traffic and income it adds) as I go through it.

As for the edits, I like to add my stuff too. But it’s got info about all sorts of cool things I didn’t know about editing with YouTube too… which lets you get traffic and participation from the live hangout while you’re there, and then the ability to add/enhance/reduce and such to create additional videos from the original that also drive traffic.

    1. I absolutely love using Google Hangouts! They accomplish what I was already doing from a vlogging standpoint and then takes it a step further in the SEO that it creates just by doing what it does.

I’m using it as a replacement for vlogging, product reviews, marketer reviews, product collaborations, mastermind feedback and more! It definitely comes with its own glitches as Google shores it all up, but if you’re marketing and building relationships, it’s worth it’s weight in gold.

Of course that’s just MY opinion! 🙂
