So today I started working on this whole social media thing so you’ll be hearing a lot about what I’m learning, how I’m using it, what’s working and what’s not working. I’ll also be passing along the tips and shortcuts that I find along the way (and so far, just in basic research, there’s a LOT!).
My focus is going to be on Pinterest, Twitter, Google Plus, Google Hangouts and YouTube. I’m probably going to be throwing some Facebook stuff in here and there as well, but that’s not going to be my primary focus unless I find out something really huge along the way that says I should. Also, I’m not real big into LinkedIn so unless I start finding my target market is shifting, I won’t be doing much there either.
I know that it seems as though I’ve chosen ALL of the social media avenues, but I know there’s a ton more out there… not to mention that Google Plus, Google Hangouts and YouTube work hand-in-hand so I’m really only playing with three.
The goal is going to be to find shortcuts for creating images, figuring out which images, colors and such work best over at Pinterest and then working on cross promotions between there and my blog. I expect Twitter and Google Plus to come in handy for promoting one side or the other or both, and I’ll be continuing to use Hangouts and YouTube to explain what I’m doing, create video SEO, and promote the people who I’m finding the best information from in regards to Social Media Advertising.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how this all works as well as sharing the results and shortcuts! I truly believe that relationship building is a huge key to building a sustainable business so I’ve joined several communities, created one or two of my own, and will more than likely be creating a Facebook group as well, where I can join forces with like-minded people to share ideas about using social media to market as well.

I am interested to see what you learn. I have to admit I don’t really focus that much on Social marketing. I know that I should.
I guess I just really don’t know where to start. Interested to see what you learn. Looking forward to see what I can learn from you.

Until the past few weeks, I had really only dabbled here and there… Twitter & Google Plus for the most part.
But, by accident actually, I started seeing some traffic from some of what I was playing with… enough to make it worth my putting some more effort into it and actually tracking what’s going on.
The hardest part for me has been reminding myself that I’m “working” while I’m out on social media… cause it just felt like I was “playing around” or wasting time.
But I’ll be posting more!

Of all the online marketing techniques, social media’s my favorite… And my favorite social media site to use as a platform will always be Facebook

Thanks for the feedback (and for stopping by) Christopher! I hear so much about Facebook, and I recently joined a mastermind group to show me how to get followers ON FB but then also how to move them to YOUR area… just in case FB owners decide to up and leave or change everything around (yes, I’m a FIRM believer that regardless of where you GET your audience, you definitely want a way to engage them independently of someone else’s whims… learned that the hard way with Squidoo).
I’m a visual learner, so that’s probably why Pinterest has become my favorite since starting, but you never know, I may change my thinking as I go along and test some things!

Love the new header Debi.
My social media of choice is Google +. I find it the easiest to use. I know that FB is very useful so I have to force myself to work with it more, Twitter too.
I add images to Pinterest, but I tend to forget that it is there. So much to choose from dontcha think?
Well, I look forward to reading how you get on with this and what works for you.
Have a good one 🙂

Hey Victoria. I’m still playing with the header… going the right direction I think but just not quite what I’m aiming for yet. 🙂
And you’re right about the whole social media thing… so many choices. But Pinterest has been the fastest in driving traffic for me so far… but I”m still tweaking all that too. 🙂
