Last month I started Tiffany Dow’s 30 day Squid Pro Quo challenge. The goal was to get one lens done per day using Erica Stone’s Squid Pro Quo product (with or without variations… Our choice).
I didn’t get 30 lenses done, but I did get enough out there to show me that using the method would allow me to start making money very quickly. So, given my time constraints and my desire to get the hell out of my job, I started figuring out what and how to outsource.
Three weeks ago, I placed my first ad on Odesk. Within the first three days I had over 20 applicants. I also send notes to six or eight that I liked. Last week I managed to find two guys that I wanted to test out.
I sent my instructions to the first guy on Monday and, even with the recent typhoon that caused a power outage where he is, he already has four done. Now I’m in the process of doing the finishing touches so that I can publish them and start promoting them.
As if I wasn’t already excited enough about that, I got an e-mail this morning telling me about a new plug-in that works with Squidoo’s lens building process called SquidCrafter. And a part of its functionality is designed specifically for buildings Squid Pro Quo lenses!
I couldn’t be any happier if I were sitting in the middle of a field full of daisies surrounded by picnic baskets full of chocolate kisses and cherries! 🙂
Just wanted to let you know. I’m off to play with my new plug-in. I’ll be back to let you know how it works. 🙂
Until then…
Good for you on the outsourcing! So exciting!

Thanks Lisa. So far so good. We’re just having to backtrack a bit with the Squidoo changes but so far, so good. 🙂

Did you get SquidCrafter? I reviewed it on my blog. It’s pretty handy!

Amanda,
I got it as soon as I got Erica’s email. I haven’t downloaded or installed it yet but I plan to this week. Glad to hear you like it!

You do have to email the creator and have your copy verified so make sure you download it and do that before you plan to actually try it out!

Thanks so much for the heads up! I’ve downloaded and installed it and have been reading thru the instructions. Looks cool. Will get the email sent too.

I haven’t bought the SquidCrafter yet. I was waiting on more word from those who did buy and play with it.
What do you think? Does it pass the Debi test? 🙂

Hey Bonnie, I just got home and will have a chance to use it over the next day or two. I’ve only had a chance to dabble at this point. So far I’m liking what I see but I’ll report back when I’ve used the whole thing! 🙂

Debi,
Thanks dear, I appreciate the follow up!
I like the idea of the software because I do own the Squid Pro Quo (and Squidazon), but I kind of like the flat boxes around the product, versus the raised.
Do you have any idea if the creator has plans to implement the flat boxes too (the ones without the shadow?)

I’m putting together some more lens templates for my outsource guy and then I’m going to build a few of my own to see exactly how this works. But what I know (and like) so far about it is this:
1. The Squid Pro Quo Intro, Small and Large templates are built into the software (Erica is the one who sort of guided Chris in making it so that makes sense).
2. You get to choose the small or large template depending on which SPQ module you’re doing and it automatically sizes to the 6 products or one.
3. You can create customized templates of your own and save them. Since I don’t know html well enough to create an entire template, I’d probably have my outsource guy do it for me and save them. But when I use it I’ll look to see how difficult it might be to do flat boxes…will have to ask my son. 🙂
There are a few other things that I want to play with to see how simple or difficult they are to do too. Will definitely have to write out and post my results as I go! 🙂

Hi Debi,
Good to hear from you! Merry Christmas to you and yours. We start on Chrismas Eve and graze through finger foods for Chrismas. Good food, relaxation, good company.
I have Squid Pro Quo, haven’t used it yet. I don’t think the plug in will be for me since my state won’t allow me to be an affiliate for Amazon. Once I get started making lens, I’ll just have to take a cut from there.
I love your blogs posts. Always so upbeat and with oomph! Have a great Christmas with your family.
Hey there Ruth!
Lots of finger foods… always a good thing when you want to relax and chat rather than live in the kitchen for the day! Thankfully, neither of the men in my life are into sports. My sweetheart does watch the boxing thing when he can and my son played soccer from age 4 to age 15 then started coaching the kids, but no one really cares for the football on TV. That means I get good movies, good food AND good company!
Glad you’re relaxing too!
As for the SPQ plugin, you’re right. Until/unless they make an option to insert links from other places then you may as well use the Squidoo lens modules. They’re like having the plugin anyway but using THEIR links. Hey, at least they share right!? 🙂
Merry Christmas!
