Yes, I do this to myself regularly…and it’s a bad habit that I’m in the process of breaking!
I’ve started on this road to successful internet marketing and my perfectionism gets in the way…especially when it comes to domain names and setting up a new business. I do my keyword research and my domain searches, and I’ll find a really great way to start.
Then I run into a glitch somewhere. And for most things, it’s not even something you can consider a true glitch. Not being able to access GoDaddy when I’m ready to purchase a domain name…THAT’S a glitch.
But no, for me it’s like this. Say I decide I want to do “Stupid”…as in “StupidMarketing.com”, “StupidEatingHabits.com”, etc. I’ll be on a roll with my 5-10 niches I like and one won’t be available under the “Stupid” brand. That sort of stuff will stop me in my tracks and send me off on another path of research.
There I go again. In the middle of typing this post I thought of something I just had to go check out at GoDaddy to see if it was available. (It is…just not sure it’s THE one I’m looking for). Of course I’ll never find THE one. From a logical standpoint, I know this. I just have to keep putting fresh duct tape on my perfectionist side…trust me, she shuts up eventually (or I wear her down maybe). 🙂
Anyway, just thought you should know if you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. Just make sure you become very consciously aware of it if it’s something you do often. It makes it much easier to get out of your own way and keep moving your business forward that way!!
Later…
