I Did It! CommentLuv is Installed… Yay Me!

I bought the CommentLuv plugin at the end of November… Yes, the END of November… LAST year.

Andy Bailey was running a special and I had seen it being used in several of the blogs that I had been commenting on. Every time I had seen it, I kept thinking “wow, this is a really great idea.” It would be great to have this on my blog so that people who leave comments can get links to their own blogs as well.

I bought it. I downloaded it. And I thought about it off and on since then.

So why didn’t I install it? Primarily because I thought it was going to be as much of a time suck to learn as  some of the other plug-ins that I’ve used, and installing plug-ins typically is not a money producing activity, which is where my current focus must be.

Well, after my last blog post about why I keep at it, I thought it would be worth at least five minutes of my time to see how technically challenging it might be to get it installed. Needless to say I was shocked.

I logged into my blog. Clicked on Plugins then Add New. I uploaded the plugin zipped file, clicked on Install Now, then clicked to Activate it. I got a message telling me to deactivate another plugin that’s also Andy’s creation and then come back. I deactivated the plugin. Then I clicked to activate it again. It asked for my CommentLuv username and password. I entered both and pressed enter.

That was it! It was installed just like that!

Just thought you should know in case you’re like me and you’re avoiding it because it might be too technically challenging and time-consuming. 🙂

Here’s to having all your plug-ins install so quickly!!

Until then…

    1. I’m watching what you’re doing on your Vlogging and schedule creation and my steps pale in comparison. LOL But I’ll certainly take baby stepping over not stepping at all! 🙂

    1. Thanks Marnie. It’s too bad that not all plugins are this easy to install and use. I’d be procrastinating a whole lot less! 🙂

  1. Well done, Debi 🙂 Yeah, sometimes (read = often) we put off jobs, because we think they are too complicated, or we don’t know where to start.

I have a friend who sent me the letters: JFDI – and I do my best to stick to that philosophy 😀

    1. JFDI – if that’s an English acronym, I know what that means! 🙂

I think because I had spent almost the entire year of 2011 learning new stuff… WordPress set up, back linking, aWeber, Squidoo, and on and on… I had just gotten to the point where my mind said “NO MORE technical stuff!.

Sort of like the year my son introduced me to a smart phone, my DVD player, and my iPod all in the same month. It’s technical overload 24/7… And I used to be a computer programmer for goodness sakes! 🙂

  2. Some 10 years ago (I know, long time ago) I was in your position. I’ve not got some 10 websites with 3 being quite sucessful.

Having read your last reply, I should point out that I used to be a Civil/ Structural Engineer so am even more out my depth than you! Do the links, do the content and you’ll be fine.

    1. OMGosh! It was SO simple! It’s one of those things I put off thinking I’d need an hour or something to do, then felt really dumb after cause it only took 5 minutes. 🙂 I think I was just to the point of “NO MORE technical crap” so I avoided it all together. LOL

And on the videos…yes, I’ve missed 2 of my weekly planned ones. That whole technical crap thing I referred to? My 3rd computer in as many weeks just arrived before we headed out for the week. I’ve spent my limited free time at home setting up yet ANOTHER laptop only to have it die during the week. :-I On a brighter note… Walmart has a really easy return policy (because they have NO technical support). 🙂
