So, my son and I decided when we bought Bring The Fresh to do a quick test site. Here’s a quick time line of events:
January 30 – Picked a topic, did some quick keyword research, then bought a domain name from GoDaddy.
February 12 – Added content and site went “live” (It only took a few hours to do the content and set up the site…but I was only home for one day each weekend and we were doing it together).
March 2 – Had all the background SEO done.
March 3/4 – Ordered backlinks on the 3rd…they were done on the 4th.
March 15 – Site was #5 on page 2 in Scroogle.
March 17 – Site made it to #10 on page 1 in Scroogle!!
Yes! I’ve never had a site, no matter what “Guru’s” latest course I was using, make it to ANYwhere that a human would ever see it…let alone page 1!! It CAN be done! 😛
Hi Debi,
That’s awesome to hear! And it’s nice to see a timeline of when you did what. Would you say it was the SEO that got you to page one in Google, or the backlinking? Or both?
Good luck with your sales and cheers to more sites. 🙂
Peggy
Peggy,
I believe it was both. The SEO alone got us up into the top 3 pages of Google. Once I did the backlinks, it moved up really fast. I haven’t done much with it since. It started moving down again that week (it dropped to #14). Now it’s back up to #10 for the main keyword and it seems to have stabilized. I’m reading up on some other stuff and continuing in the BTF forums for all those great tidbits.
From what I’m gathering, I’m going to get a few higher quality backlinks for it, along with maybe a bit more “personal touch” in the first 2 articles.
Will keep updating results as we “tweak”. 🙂
